Talking To Bali Wedding Vendors: Episode 10 - DJ Evie

Wedding DJ in Bali Evie

At Silver Lace Weddings, we love highlighting the people who bring weddings to life. Today, we’re talking with DJ Evie, a seasoned wedding DJ with a background in music and a talent for reading the room. From her early days as a singer to spinning sets that keep dance floors packed, DJ Evie shares how she creates personalized experiences for every couple she works with.

What inspired you to become a wedding DJ, and how did your journey in this industry begin?

I’ve loved music since I was a kid. I actually started my career as a singer, but I got serious about DJ-ing after returning from England around 2013, and I’ve been doing it ever since.

How do you go about creating a playlist that caters to a diverse group of wedding guests?

I have my go to playlists and a very wide music collection. For weddings, I always check where the couple is from and the age range of the guests. That helps me decide what music to play. I also ask the couple to share a few examples of the music they like ahead of time so I can study their taste and create a custom vibe for their event.

Can you share a memorable wedding experience where the music truly enhanced the celebration?

There are so many! Honestly, almost every wedding has a unique and unforgettable after-party. I can’t choose just one. My goal is always to leave a lasting impression, whether it’s a big party or an intimate one, I give my best performance every time.

What are some of the most popular songs or genres that you find consistently energize the dance floor?

Rather than specific songs, I focus more on genres. Personally, I love playing hardstyle, and many of my clients actually request that I bring my signature style to their wedding. Of course, if they want me to keep it soft, I respect that, whatever keeps the dance floor alive and moving.

How do you handle song requests from guests while keeping the event’s atmosphere cohesive?

I usually don’t take last minute song requests unless I already have the track in my playlist. That’s why I ask couples to send me their song preferences well in advance. That way, I can prepare, blend their taste with my style, and ensure the flow is seamless and satisfying.

What advice would you give to couples who are in the process of selecting music for their wedding day?

My advice is simple, create a playlist on Spotify and send me the link. Also let me know if there are any songs or genres you don’t want played. Music is such a personal thing, so I respect their choices. My role is to combine their favorites with my style and experience to create a great atmosphere on the dance floor.

How do you collaborate with couples to ensure their personal music tastes are reflected in the event?

I listen to them carefully and adjust based on my point of view and experience. Most of the time, it works perfectly, and many couples end up saying, “I want you to be YOU, DJ Evie.”

Have you noticed any emerging trends in wedding music that couples are particularly excited about?

Not really, wedding music tends to follow similar patterns across events. But I analyze what the couple enjoys, their favorite eras and genres and then mix everything to create a personalized experience.

How do you manage unexpected challenges, like technical issues or last-minute changes, during a wedding?

Sometimes the challenge comes from guests or relatives requesting songs. If I have the track, I’ll play it, and if it’s not a typical DJ song, I’ll try to find a remix version in my collection. Last-minute changes rarely happen because I always prepare well, but if they do, I adapt on the spot and make sure everything feels smooth and professional.

Could you tell us about a time when you had to adjust your playlist on the fly, and how it turned out?

That happens quite often. I usually start with a warm up set and gradually increase the BPM and shift the genres based on the crowd’s energy. It’s all about reading the room and adjusting in real-time.

What equipment do you rely on to deliver high-quality sound and ensure a seamless performance?

I love Pioneer, everything from their smallest to biggest series. Reliable and top quality.

What techniques do you use to keep the dance floor active and maintain high energy throughout the night?

It all comes down to reading the audience and responding to their energy. That’s the key to keeping the vibe alive.

What do you think makes your DJ services stand out in the wedding industry?

Professional work ethic and solid preparation. I take every event seriously and make sure I’m ready to give my best.

Do you offer any additional services or packages that might interest our couples?

Yes! I offer collaborations with live performers like saxophonists, percussionists, or guitarists. It really takes the performance to the next level.

What do you find most rewarding about being a wedding DJ, and are there any standout moments you’d like to share with us?

What I find most rewarding is when couples and wedding organizers refer me to others, that’s the best feedback. The standout moment for me is always that “aftertaste” feeling when the party was unforgettable for everyone involved. That’s what keeps me going.
