Nic and Ed’s wedding at Pandawa Cliff Estate was one of those days where the setting did a lot of the work.

With the ocean stretching out beyond the cliffs, the styling stayed clean and fresh with white flowers, greenery and plenty of open space. The day started quietly with everyone getting ready at the villa, followed by an outdoor ceremony and then a very different kind of evening once the music started.

There were personalised coconuts, live saxophone, a big entrance, plenty of dancing and, by the end of the night, nobody was particularly worried about keeping their shoes on.

A relaxed morning at the villa

The day started at the villa with Nic getting ready with her bridal party and family around her.

There were some lovely quieter moments before the ceremony, including time with her mum while getting into her lace gown.

Ed kept things classic in a beige suit, with portraits around the villa before everyone started making their way towards the ceremony.

There was also an unplugged ceremony sign waiting for guests, along with handheld fans to help with the afternoon heat.

A simple ceremony above the ocean

The ceremony took place outdoors on the cliff, with the ocean stretching out behind the couple.

White orchids and roses were used throughout the ceremony design, keeping everything fresh against the tropical greenery and blue water.

Nic walked down the aisle with her father before joining Ed, with their bridesmaids in champagne dresses standing beside them.

The ceremony itself was relaxed and full of smiles, and once the vows were finished, the couple walked back down the aisle through a shower of flower petals.

A little time to enjoy the afternoon

After the ceremony, guests gathered for drinks while Nic and Ed spent some time taking photographs around the property.

There were portraits beside the traditional Balinese stone gates, a few quiet moments together and plenty of time for everyone to catch up before dinner.

Fresh coconuts with personalised labels were waiting for guests, which was a simple but really nice touch for an outdoor celebration in Bali.

Dinner as the sun went down

As the afternoon faded, everyone made their way towards the reception.

Long timber tables were set outside with white flowers, greenery and warm lights overhead. The clean styling worked really well against the natural surroundings, while the open-air setting kept the dinner feeling relaxed.

Then the saxophone started.

Rather than simply having the musicians waiting at the reception, the saxophonist led the guests down towards dinner, which made the transition into the evening feel like part of the celebration.

Nic and Ed then made their entrance down the wooden staircase to cheers from everyone waiting below.

From dinner to the dance floor

There were speeches, plenty of laughter and a lot of celebrating around the tables before things moved towards the dance floor.

Nic and Ed had their first dance on a black-and-white checkerboard floor, including a rather impressive lift from Ed.

The saxophone came back into the action, the music got louder and everyone started joining them.

By this point, the formal part of the evening was pretty much done.

And then everyone took their shoes off

The rest of the night was about dancing.

Guests gathered beneath the lights, the saxophonist kept the energy going and Nic and Ed were right in the middle of it all.

Eventually the shoes came off and the dancing carried on barefoot.

Which, in Bali, is probably exactly how it should end.

A wedding that kept things simple

What worked so well about Nic and Ed’s wedding was that nothing was competing with the setting.

The flowers were clean and understated, the reception was relaxed and the ocean and cliffs remained part of the day from beginning to end.

Then the music brought a completely different energy to the evening.

From the quiet moments getting ready through to the saxophone, the dancing and everyone ending up barefoot, the day felt easy and genuinely enjoyable.

Nic and Ed’s wedding at Pandawa Cliff Estate was a beautiful example of keeping the design considered while still letting the celebration feel completely relaxed.
