Catherine & David’s Puri Nirwana Villa Wedding in Bali
Catherine and David’s wedding at Puri Nirwana was all about making the most of the setting.
With the villa sitting right on the beach and surrounded by tropical gardens, there was no need to overcomplicate the design. The day moved from an intimate outdoor ceremony into cocktails on the lawn, beach portraits and a relaxed dinner under the lights, before turning into a proper party later in the evening.
A ceremony surrounded by Bali’s greenery
The ceremony took place outdoors, with a wall of tropical foliage behind the couple rather than a traditional floral structure. White flowers lined the aisle and black chairs kept the setup simple against all that greenery.
It felt very much like Puri Nirwana doing the work. The gardens, the beach and the tropical surroundings were already such a big part of the setting that the styling was there to complement them rather than compete with them.
After the ceremony, guests gathered on the lawn for cocktails while Catherine and David slipped away for some portraits on the black sand beach just a few steps from the villa.
Cocktails, beach portraits and a change of pace
An acoustic duo played during cocktail hour while guests relaxed around the lawn and bar.
Meanwhile, Catherine and David headed down to the beach for a few photographs together. The black sand gave the portraits a completely different feel from the ceremony and reception, and it was one of those advantages of having the wedding at a beachfront villa.
Dinner under the chandeliers
As daylight faded, the reception came together beneath an arched structure with crystal chandeliers overhead.
Long wooden tables were paired with low seating and floor cushions, giving the dinner a more relaxed feel rather than a formal ballroom setup. White flowers, candles and black tableware kept the styling clean and understated.
There was also a rather impressive grazing board for guests, followed by Catherine and David’s entrance with a saxophone player joining the celebrations.
And then it was time to party
Once dinner was over, everyone moved onto the white dance floor.
There was a lot of dancing, the saxophone was back in the middle of the action and Catherine and David had their first dance before the whole group came together for photographs under the warm string lights.
It was relaxed, fun and very much centred around having a good time with the people they had brought to Bali to celebrate with them.
A wedding that made the most of Puri Nirwana
What worked so well about Catherine and David’s day was that nothing felt forced.
The tropical setting was allowed to be part of the design. The ceremony was simple, the dinner felt relaxed and the evening gradually turned into a party without the day ever feeling too structured.
That is something we really value when we design and plan weddings. The venue, the styling and all the logistics matter, but they should still leave room for the couple and their guests to actually enjoy the day.
Catherine and David’s wedding at Puri Nirwana was a great example of that.
