Shishi & Lewis’s Wedding at Villa Bodhi
Shishi and Lewis’s wedding at Villa Bodhi was a beautiful example of what makes getting married in Ubud so special.
Surrounded by jungle and tucked away from the busier parts of Bali, Villa Bodhi gave them a private setting for a day that was relaxed, personal and full of little details.
The day started with everyone getting ready around the villa before moving into an outdoor ceremony overlooking the valley. From there, the evening continued with dinner beneath the lights, traditional Balinese touches, floating candles and plenty of dancing.
Getting ready at the villa
The morning was spent around Villa Bodhi, with everyone getting ready in the traditional Joglo suites.
Lewis had a quiet moment with his mum while getting ready, while Shishi and her bridal party prepared for the ceremony.
There was also a small memorial table set up at the villa, with a candle and photographs to remember loved ones who couldn't be there to celebrate with them.
It was a simple detail, but an important one.
A ceremony surrounded by the Ubud jungle
The ceremony took place outdoors overlooking the valley.
White flowers and greenery lined the aisle, while warm string lights and lanterns added a little structure to the tropical setting. The surrounding jungle was still very much part of the ceremony, with the infinity pool and valley creating the backdrop.
Shishi walked down the aisle with a family member before joining Lewis at the ceremony.
There were plenty of smiles and a few emotional moments, followed by a very enthusiastic dip and kiss once the vows were finished.
A little time together before dinner
After the ceremony, Shishi and Lewis took some time to themselves around the property.
They walked through the gardens, stopped beside one of the traditional Joglo buildings and spent a quiet moment together in one of the wooden pavilions.
It was a nice change of pace after the ceremony and gave them some time together before heading back to their guests.
There was also a traditional Balinese dancer performing during the celebrations, bringing another piece of Bali into the evening.
Dinner beneath the lights
As the sun went down, the reception was set up around a long table overlooking the jungle.
White linens, soft pastel flowers and candlelight kept the styling elegant without taking away from the surroundings. Warm string lights stretched above the dinner, making the whole space feel much more intimate once it got dark.
Shishi and Lewis made their entrance to cheers from their guests before settling in for dinner, speeches and the celebrations.
Champagne, cake and floating candles
The evening continued with the wedding cake and champagne tower.
Rather than rushing through the formalities, there was plenty of time for everyone to sit together, raise a glass and enjoy the evening.
Later, guests gathered around the pool and released floating candles onto the water.
With the lights from the villa and reception glowing around them, it was one of those quieter moments that made a nice contrast to what came next.
Then the dancing started
Once dinner was finished, the music took over.
Shishi and Lewis had their first dance beneath the lights before joining their guests on the dance floor.
There were plenty of laughs, a few sparkling effects and eventually a big circle of friends and family dancing together beneath the night sky.
The quiet jungle setting from earlier in the day felt completely different by this point.
A wedding that let Villa Bodhi do the work
What worked so well about Shishi and Lewis’s wedding was how naturally everything fitted into the setting.
There was no need to try and transform Villa Bodhi into something it wasn't. The jungle, the traditional buildings and the valley views were already such a big part of the experience.
The styling simply added to it.
The day had its quiet moments, its personal details and plenty of time with family and friends, before eventually turning into a proper celebration.
